West Point graduate, veteran pilot, and proven conservative leader dedicated to fighting for Tennessee families and American values.
Matt Van Epps is a proud graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he developed the leadership skills and unwavering commitment to service that define him today.
As a Lieutenant Colonel in the Tennessee Army National Guard, Matt served a decade on active duty, including combat deployments as a helicopter pilot and Air Mission Commander in Army Special Operations. His military experience taught him the values of duty, honor, and country that guide his approach to public service.
Matt served as Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of General Services, leading one of the state's largest operational agencies. He oversaw statewide procurement, facilities management, and essential services that touch every department in Tennessee government.
Before his appointment as Commissioner, Matt served for three years in the Tennessee Governor's Office as Deputy Chief Operating Officer, leading multi-agency initiatives in education, veteran services, and economic development. His business experience includes executive roles driving operational turnarounds and workforce innovation.
Matt Van Epps has chosen to make Tennessee's 7th District his home, where he lives with his wife and daughter. As a proud Tennessean, Matt understands the values of hard work, personal responsibility, and service to community that define this great state.
Beyond his public service, Matt is passionate about developing future leaders and has founded a veteran-owned firm focused on national security and conservative policy initiatives. He also developed and resourced the Governor's Veteran Fellowship Program, demonstrating his commitment to helping veterans transition into public service.
When not serving Tennesseans, Matt enjoys time with his wife and daughter, being an active member of his local community and church, and enjoying Tennessee's great outdoors.
Together, we can support President Trump's agenda and bring proven veteran leadership to Washington for Tennessee.
